Abstract | This paper presents a three phase AC to DC rectifier topology that produces a regulated DC output voltage with low input current distortion. The converter uses the principle of third-harmonic current injection through a zigzag transformer to achieve low input current distortion. The converter is constructed using two combined buck-and-boost converter topology circuits, which can operate with input voltages from 150 V to 480 V. ATP, a version of EMTP is used to simulate the proposed topology and test the circuit performance and compare the results to the theoretical observations. Simulation results of the complete circuit are presented here which show that the total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than five percent in the input currents is achieved over a wide range of input voltages |
